Fujifilm X-T4 + XF33mm f/1.4 R LM WR: 1/8000s, f/2.8, ISO160

It sure has been a while! I really need a better introductory sentence to my blog posts. A lot has happened in the interim, but I’ll pocket most of those topics for future posts 🤞🏼. Today’s post is all about my day off with Steven and Kay Sheh. Kay is a friend of mine from my high school days who now lives with her husband in the Bay Area, so when they’re in town, it’s a special occasion!

Whenever friends (or soon-to-be friends) visit I like to take them to places they haven’t been to yet. With Kay and Steven it’s a bit challenging thinking of places like that because Kay’s siblings are also quite familiar with the sites and tastes of the island so they’ve already been to a lot of the spots. You can read about their previous visit and that adventure here. My plan this visit was to take them on a short, medium difficulty (we decided) hike to a natural rock arch, and enjoy some ramen from one of my favorite spots: Noods.

Things don’t always go as planned, however. My car’s maintenance appointment had to be scheduled for the same day so we started a bit later than I had hoped to. Noods closes between 2pm-5pm daily to prepare for the dinner shift so we didn’t make it there in time. We walked around for a bit. Thankfully, I spent a few years working in Kaimuki and remembered Super Pho was one of my favorite lunch spots back in those days. I suggested we go there.

Steven and Kay decided to order the Super Pho’s Seven Courses of Beef. I had never ventured past the casual Vietnamese menu options like Pho and Lemongrass Chicken cold vermicelli, so this was definitely a new experience for me! The food was delicious! You may also notice that conspicuously missing from this post are photos of the food… I was so hungry I forgot to snap a few 😜. We also stopped by Pipeline Bakeshop and Creamery and Otto Cake to pick up some delectables to take home and enjoy! Also, notably, there is no photographical evidence of said delectables… 🤪. There was a UPS truck parked outside of Pipeline Bakeshop and Kay noted the shocking quantities of goldbelly orders going out, a testament to the shop’s success I guess!

Until next time, じゃあね。
